God in This Scientific Age

Washington County Ag Center - 1424 Jackson Ave, Chipley, FL 32428

Please join H.E. “Buddy” Payne, Jr., PhD, on January 25th, 26th and 27th (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) for a series of public lectures at the Washington County Ag Center, in Chipley, Florida to examine and discuss the answers.  Dr. Payne is the Chancellor (and retired President) of Florida College (metro Tampa) and has made a lifetime practice of carefully examining the evidence for God outside of the Bible and provides these lectures as a public service.   We invite you to review his biography and to learn more about his academic credentials and his background.

He will be rationally and logically presenting the following subjects for your consideration, and after a one hour presentation each evening, there will be a brief question and answer period to follow:

Thursday, January 25th, 2024 @7 pm: Christianity and Science   Conflict or Coherence? What does the evidence show?   The common worldview of the 20th and 21st centuries has been that science and religion are in conflict. Many believe that progress in science rules out belief in God as antiquated and unnessary.   This lecture will declare that the scientific discoveries of the past 70 years have only strengthened the ancient proclamation that "The heavens declare the glory of God!"  Dr. Payne will present hard evidence and encourage you to draw your own conclusions.

Friday, January 26th, 2024 @7 pm: The Great Designer  - Evidence from the Chemistry of Living Things  - This lecture will focus upon the discoveries, over the past 70 years, of the amazing complexity of even the simplest forms of living things-- of life at the biochemical level.   Drawing upon his own scientific training, Dr. Payne will discuss how the single cell contains the massive amounts of information being used to produce and maintain an untold number of molecular machines and complex process-- all of which speak to, and point to, Intelligent Design.  Dr. Payne will present, and encourage you to draw your own conclusions.

Saturday, January 27th @7pm: Molecular Machines  - Evolved or Designed?  -  This lecture builds upon the previous one and examines more thoroughly the subject of molecular machines, highlighting several examples with special emphasis upon the bacterial flagellum.  Given the sheer number and complexity of molecular machines in every living cell, we ask: "Which is the more reasonable explanation for their origin?  Natural causes, or Intelligent Design?"  Dr. Payne will present, and you will be encouraged to draw your own conclusions.

We will be studying evidences for each topic for one hour, followed by fifteen minutes of questions and answers in each session, which is offered free of charge.  Dress is casual, and people of all ages, backgrounds and beliefs are welcome!
